PingPane is a website uptime monitoring service operated by Pettabyte Group. This policy explains what data we collect when you use PingPane, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how to get rid of it. It is written to be readable. If anything here is unclear, email hi@pingpane.com and a human will answer.

What we collect

Account data. When you create an account we store your email address, a hashed password (if you signed up with email + password), and a display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email and basic profile information (name, profile picture URL) so we can identify you. We never see your Google password.

Monitor configuration. The URLs you ask us to monitor, the regions you select, the alert recipients you configure, and the public status page settings you choose.

Check results. Every check we run produces a timestamp, an HTTP status code, a latency value, and a pass/fail. We keep 90 days of check results at full resolution and downsampled history beyond that.

Billing data. Stripe processes payments on our behalf. Stripe stores your card details — we never see the full card number. We store the Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and the last four digits of the card so we can show it on your billing page.

Product analytics. We use DataFast for first-party product analytics. DataFast records page views, clicks on key calls to action, and basic device information (browser family, OS family, screen size). DataFast does not set third-party cookies and does not build cross-site profiles.

Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and our database provider (Supabase) keep request logs containing IP addresses and user-agent strings for a short period for security and abuse-prevention purposes.

What we don't collect

  • No advertising trackers, pixels, or third-party tags.
  • No request bodies from your monitored sites — we only record the response status, latency, and headers we need to detect failure.
  • No session recording, no heatmaps, no fingerprinting.
  • No data sold to anyone, ever. PingPane has no advertising revenue and no plans to introduce any.

How we use the data

We use the data above to run the service: deliver the dashboard to you, run your checks on the schedule you configured, send the alerts you asked for, take payment, and answer your support emails. We use aggregate, de-identified usage data to figure out which features are working and which aren't.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary data with the small set of vendors that make the service possible:

  • Vercel — application hosting and edge delivery.
  • Supabase — primary database and authentication.
  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Resend — transactional email (alerts, password resets, receipts).
  • DataFast — product analytics.

Each vendor is bound by a data processing agreement. We do not share your data with anyone else except where required by law or with your explicit consent.

Where the data lives

PingPane is hosted on Vercel's global edge network with data stored primarily in the United States. Check execution runs from regional probe nodes you select; only the result is stored centrally.

How long we keep it

  • Account records: until you delete your account, then 30 days in soft-delete before permanent erasure.
  • Check results: 90 days at full fidelity, then downsampled.
  • Billing records: 7 years for tax and audit purposes, per UK and US requirements.
  • Server logs: 30 days.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, UK, California, or any other jurisdiction with a consumer privacy law, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Most of these are self-serve — your data lives in your dashboard. For anything more involved, email hi@pingpane.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Cookies

PingPane uses a small number of first-party cookies for authentication (so you stay signed in) and for remembering UI preferences like dark mode. There are no third-party tracking cookies and there is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Children

PingPane is a business tool and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page in place when the policy changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent material change. Significant changes (new categories of data, new vendors handling your data) will also be announced via email to account holders.
